Seed cycling for women:
a simple guide.

Four everyday seeds, two halves of the month. Here is what seed cycling is, how women in Pakistan fit it into daily food, what the research honestly says, and how our ready-made blends work.

What is seed cycling?

Seed cycling is a food routine in which you eat two seeds during the first half of your monthly cycle and two different seeds during the second half. It is popular with women who want a simple, regular habit around nutrition. It is a way of eating, not a medicine.

Which seeds go in each phase?

PhaseWhenSeeds
FollicularDay 1 of your period to ovulation (about day 14)Flax + pumpkin seeds
LutealOvulation to your next period (about day 15–28)Sesame + sunflower seeds

It is commonly described as about one tablespoon of each seed for that phase per day, usually ground. With an irregular cycle, some women follow the moon instead: follicular seeds from new moon to full moon, luteal seeds from full moon to new moon.

How to add the seeds to Pakistani meals

Stir them into breakfast dahi or oats, blend them into a lassi or smoothie, sprinkle them over salad, chaat or roti dough, or mix them with honey as a snack. Grinding flax just before eating keeps it fresh. Store seeds in an airtight jar in a cool, dry place.

What does the research say?

There is very little direct scientific research on seed cycling itself, and it has not been shown to balance hormones or to treat PCOS, irregular periods, fertility problems or menopause symptoms. What is well established is that these seeds are nutritious: they provide fibre, healthy fats, plant protein and minerals such as zinc and magnesium, plus vitamin E. If you have symptoms or a health condition, please speak to a doctor rather than relying on food alone.

Common questions

What is seed cycling?

Seed cycling is a food routine in which some women eat different seeds during the two halves of their monthly cycle: flax and pumpkin seeds in the first half (follicular phase), then sesame and sunflower seeds in the second half (luteal phase).

Which seeds are eaten in each phase?

Follicular phase (roughly day 1 to ovulation, about day 14): ground flax seeds and pumpkin seeds. Luteal phase (ovulation to the next period, about day 15 to 28): sesame seeds and sunflower seeds.

How much is usually eaten each day?

It is commonly described as about one tablespoon of each of the two seeds for that phase per day, often ground so they are easier to digest. Follow the serving instructions on your pack.

Does seed cycling balance hormones or treat PCOS?

There is little direct scientific research on seed cycling itself, and it has not been shown to balance hormones or treat PCOS, fertility problems or other conditions. The seeds are nutritious foods (fibre, healthy fats, zinc, magnesium, vitamin E), so many women simply enjoy them as part of a balanced diet. Speak to a doctor about any health condition.

What if my cycle is irregular or I do not have a period?

Many people who follow the routine use the moon calendar instead: follicular seeds from new moon to full moon, luteal seeds from full moon to new moon. If your cycle is irregular, it is worth discussing with a doctor.

Can I buy ready-made seed cycling blends in Pakistan?

Yes. Organic Blend sells a Follicular Phase blend (flax and pumpkin), a Luteal Phase blend (sesame and sunflower) and a Complete Kit with both, delivered across Pakistan with cash on delivery.

Who should be careful with seed cycling?

Anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, has a medical condition or has a seed allergy should ask a healthcare professional before changing their diet. The Luteal blend contains sesame, a common allergen.
